A.Z. Bigiotterie S.A.S. was born in 1974 and produces costume jewelry and leather accessories. The peculiarity of its production lies in the preciousness of the making, entirely hand made using the same techniques of high jewelry. The art of costume jewelry was brought to San Daniele del Friuli by Vittorio Pellissoni, a native to this town, who decided to emigrate to the United States after the Second World War. He found a job in Manhattan, as helper in a laboratory that produced copies of real jewels for the gentlemen of the time. In fact, they preferred to leave the real pieces of jewelry safe at home, and use identical copies instead. Here Vittorio learned all the useful techniques to create costume jewelry and after about ten years, he went back to his native town, where he founded his own company. In 1974 Angelo Zanutto, who worked at the factory of Mr.Pellissoni, decided to take his own way and open his own company along with his wife. A.Z. is nowadays run with passion by his two sons, Gabriele and Andrea.
Starting from the small factory of Mr. Pellissoni, the art of costume jewelry in San Daniele del Friuli has grown exponentially and in the late '80s this small town became a true industrial district, specialized in the various bijoux processes: you could count 7 factories with over 250 employees involved. Nowadays thought the smaller factories have been defeated by the economical crisis while A.Z. Bigiotterie is the only one that has survived. This company is one of the very few ones in Europe and worldwide that is still capable of producing costume jewelry with this kind of processes, with important industrial numbers, therefore maintaining the highest quality. The company can produce up to 8.000 pieces per month through the current forty professionals that work there. During the years, some of the most renowned and important fashion designers have and still do entrust A.Z.; their ideas in fact ultimately come to life and appear in the most prestigious fashion catwalks and shop windows worldwide.
